Not many know that the company that became Grotrian was actually started by Heinrich Engelhard Steinweg, in Seesen, Germany, in 1835. He passed it on to his son, C.F. Theodor, before emigrating to the U.S. where he Americanized his name and founded the famous Steinway & Sons in New York City. In 1856, Theodor partnered with G.F.K. Grotrian. Subsequent members of that family have been involved with the company for six generations!
Although not as well-known in America, Grotrian pianos are compared with the finest premier performance instruments in the world.
This is a piano you will seldom see in the United States: a 9’ Grotrian Model 275 concert grand! If you love rare, exceptional German instruments and have the room, this will make a magnificent impression in your space — at a fraction of the cost of a new Grotrian concert grand.
