We are fortunate to have on offer two magnificent, fully restored C. Bechstein Performance Grands.
The C. Bechstein Pianoforte company is one of the most storied and important piano builders in the world. They were founded in 1853 in Berlin – the same year that Steinway & Sons in New York City and Blüthner in Leipzig emerged!
Their larger grands became established in many public and private concert venues throughout Europe and were endorsed by the most demanding performers of the day. In the 1880s, because of their reputation for craftsmanship, they began supplying both traditional and exquisite art case pianos to the royalty of Great Britain, Russia, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, to name a few…
Which brings us to this gorgeous, pre-World War II 1916 Model C 7’ 4” semi-concert grand, fully restored with great skill and attention to detail.
The inner mechanics and tonal elements have been rebuilt with a new pinblock, new tuning pins and strings, hammers, and dampers. And as you can see, the finish on the cabinet and plate have been brought back to their former lustre.
This is a high-end German performance piano, built during the heyday of European manufacturing. For a dedicated pianist, or a German piano aficionado — that has the accommodating space — it will really shine in a proper setting that showcases its musical and physical attributes.
