Steinway & Sons Vintage “V” Upright

Here is an interesting old Steinway Model V upright from 1918.

Clearly, someone redid the finish in an “antiquing” style with paint rather than stripping and refinishing the veneer.  Surprisingly, it gives the piano a cool, almost shabby chic appearance.

Inside, it’s still a classic Steinway upright, with its big, robust bass, warm tenor, and bright treble.

This would be a great piano for a recording studio looking for a “vibe” piano with lots of tonal color.  Also, possibly a good upgrade from a smaller vertical or digital action.
