The Blüthner company is one of the most storied and important piano builders in the world. They were founded in 1853 in Leipzig, Germany – the same year that Steinway & Sons in New York City and C. Bechstein Pianoforte in Berlin emerged!
Along with the likes of London, Paris, and Vienna, Leipzig was an immensely important cultural center in Europe in the mid-19th Century, housing a thriving, affluent middle-class eager for the artistic experiences that had formerly been reserved for the aristocracy.
Blüthner attained world-wide acclaim for their quality work and had become Europe’s largest piano factory by 1900.
Despite the wars, destruction, and tumultuous periods in Europe during the first half of the 20th Century, the company was always under the helm of the Blüthner family – even during the nationalization takeover by the East Germany government in 1972. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the family regained private control and continues to build pianos of the highest quality.
This 6’ 10” Model-7 is a true performance-level artist grand, suitable for even the most advanced pianist. Its depth of rich singing tone, powerful dynamics, and responsive Renner action will delight any player. And its exquisite book-matched burled walnut cabinet will attract the admiring eye of any exotic furniture lover in any setting.
